Week 12 Online Marketing

What four additional online marketing tools do you believe could be important to the growth of your business?

I believe Palomar College would benefit from having a sucessful Youtube Channel to provide insight to students and propestive students on what college life will be. Doing online tutorials to how financial aid works, picking your classes, ask a counselor session and etc. would be a good place to look if you have any questions about Palomar College.

Twitter: To use concurrently with Facebook

Google Plus for Andriod users and Google fans

Tumblr: As a blog with pictures of all things college!

Week 11 Online Advertising

In our department we have a very limited budget for advertising and have used Facebook as a means to advertise for free and use the funds for more traditional advertising. If we were able to advertise on Facebook or Twitter I am sure we would go very strong promoting the start of a new semester and promote registration with the help of Enrollment Service. Having an incentive for students to "like" the official college fan page with ads poping up on their timeline if they are in the targeted age group and service area of the college with investing in the "Friends of Connections"

ads. I know the Performing Arts program could advertise their weekly performances with ads if people are already a fan of our page. Twitter could come in handy with followers who have other educational institutions on the feed with the college promoting our upcoming semester and other important dates. Tweets directing followers to our electronic class schedule could be successful since many people will click on links to see where it will lead them to. Since Facebook has worked as a free tool in promoting our different events and programs I think our marketing department will see how long they can keep going without having to pay for ads.

Week 10: Email Marketing

Newsletters are a great way to get information out to your intended audience, I feel for Palomar College to have a successful newsletter it has to be for the 18-24 year old market. The newsletter will be a form to showcase all the happenings on campus to attract potential students and make currents students proud of their place of study. I would like to have various sections where students take the lead and write about their experiences in programs, classes and sports and make Palomar College an attractive place to go to school to. Using graphics and a layout that will catch the eye of the 18-24 age group is very important, using current events and researching what is going on with their age group will be key to capturing the intended audience. With the help of departments on campus we could feature topics that are important to the student and helpful information to make their time at Palomar easier. I think having a 2 editions each semester would help to be update with all the happenings on campus.

Week 9 Blogging for Business

What kinds of categories you would use on your blog to stay organized and reach your target audience. How would these categories help the business grow?

Being a blog for an educational institution I feel that having categories in which students can relate to are very important.

I would divide my categories into:

Student life: Have a "student blogger" write about their experience as a Palomar College student.

College 101: Write about the ABC's of Admissions, Financial Aid, Counselling, Assessment, Educational Plans.

Career Path: Highlight an vocational/technical degree offered on campus.

Athletics: Successful student athletes.

Having other departments on campus do "guest blog posts" to do a showcase on programs they offer or their office staff who are able to help the students.

I visited the following blogs:
Waffle Haus
Eric's Weblog
Turman's Blog
