Week Nine Blogging for Business

Blogging can be such a great outlet for someone to express themselves, but how much personal information is it necessary to write about for it to be interesting. I have read blogs where people go on and on about their love lives, living situations, work life and etc. and it's so entertaining to read it and feel like you are best friends with the blogger. I think it's up to the blogger to figure out how much they want to be a public figure, blogger in themselves are a new kind of celebrity. Privacy is something someone should think about when they are considering what they are going to expose about themselves on their blog.

  1. Hi Dianna,
I agree wth your thought on privacy that someone should think about carefully before they post on their blog is very important. Yes, it is entertaining to read about a person's life, but that will be forever on the internet. One must consider what others may do or interpret with that personal information. It's also very public information that their co-workers, boss , customer, potential customer, and anyone else they allowed on their blog will read. Good point you brought up. Thank you.

  2. Dianna,
I agree that it can be entertaining to read about people on their blogs and develop a feeling of a bond or friendship. However, when it comes to business I think any discussion of love life or living arrangements would very quickly cross the border into inappropriate content for a business blog!

You are very right about the importance of privacy on the internet. Like you said, it is important to consider what you post and the impression it gives to others. Also as Dorothy said, once its on the internet, it's there forever - anything can be recovered even once it's deleted!

  3. I agree with your post. It is interesting to read about someones personal feelings and things going on in their lives. There definitely is a fine line of sharing too much, but it's certainly up to the blogger if they are an open book or not.
